Minou

A few more Minou pics :)

lol too close to the camera on that last one :D

Minou

Took a couple pictures today while she was hamming it up rolling all around on the floor like the cutie she is.
She got lots new food and treats yesterday, a bottle of FerreTone, a new kind of kibble to mix in, and some N-bones chew treats. She's been a very good girl lately (or at least has done a good job of being cute so I forget when she's not a good girl, lol) and needed a little something special.

Minou

We were told that Minou was about 2 years old when we she came to live with us in late February of 2007. Our home is her 3rd so far, and she has been an only ferret for some time now. She is a dark eyed white (DEW) meaning that she is all white but has black eyes, she also has some black or very dark hairs mixed in as well as a few black wiskers, so she is not an albino. She has been eating only Marshall's brand food her entire life, and recently started having a ferret kibble type treat as well as cheerios occasionally. Her coat was a little yellow at first, but is nice and full and fluffy, and her weight is good.

She's adapted to living here pretty well in the three months she's been here so far. She was biting a lot at first, mostly for attention and sometimes because she was tired. Now she only nips when playing and is learning quickly about not biting too hard. She is a ferret however, so we can all understand that nipping and biting is a natural part of their lives, and that that's how they play with each other, so I have been allowing "play biting" as long as it isn't hard biting. She wasn't let out to play much at her last home, and here she gets free roam except for at night. She either goes into her cage or in the bedroom for the night, mostly for her safety and so I don't worry about her so much. She's finally gotten used to this, at first she wasn't comfortable sleeping just anywhere and would come to me and bite my ankles or any skin because she was tired and getting cranky. For the first few weeks I had to bring her to her cage and make her take a nap. I'd open the door when she was sound asleep and then she would come out when she woke up. Eventually she got more comfortable with us and has found spots that she likes to sleep in now outside the cage.

Thankfully she hasn't taken to digging at the couches to burrow into them, or try to open the kitchen cabinets. I did find out that under the cabinets there was a gap that led under them, not in them but actually under them and had to block that up. I blocked it with cardboard and attached it with packing tape, since we are in an apartment I can't do anything permanent right now. I had to make a thing with carboard also to keep her from getting under the stove. I tested it and the lower half of the stove doesn't get warm at all even when the oven and stove top are on, but I did make it so I can easily remove it incase need be. Also just recently, she managed to fit behind the fridge. I didn't think she could and she hadn't taken any interest to it so I didn't bother. Now I have an empty soda box squished in there and it's working fine to block her out. All food has to be kept up off the floor and couches, since she has learned that she can climb the couches. She doesn't do it often, but if she knows or finds out theres food up there she can and will.

I'll be adding things in like day to day occurrences, exciting adventures, things I'm worried about, whatever comes her way :)
